Hi and welcome to my site. My name is Marianne and I am the Canterbury Explorer. I am German by birth but have now lived, worked, and have just retired in, the wonderful city of Canterbury. I will tell you where I eat when I go out, the best shops for that little special gift, as well as where you can get that perfect quintessentially English Pint of beer. My tourism guide is just for you, and comes from a local resident.

The information is just a relevant for the day tripper to the weekender. I can give you the insight you need into our wonderful and ancient city. I love it. It is always changing despite all its history. There is always something new to do, see, visit or eat here; and the Canterbury Explorer will tell you where it is.

I like to think of this site as the places I would send my friends and family to visit and stay when they come down, except I now want to open up this insiders guide to everyone.
