Druidstone Park

Situated a mere 10 minutes from the centre of Canterbury, Druidstone Park has something for all the family. Whether you are after some tranquility, a walk in the enchanted woods, or a play area for the kids, the park has a mixture for both young and old.

Personally, I love to take my grandkids there, as there are lots of animals for them to say hello to. The children can walk up to friendly deer and feed them (animal feed costs 50 pence from the entrance stall or £1 for three bags). As well as saying hello to donkey, ponies, pigs, sheep and more.

What to do there.

There is plenty to do at Druidstone Park. You can choose to go and visit the animals and feed them. There are llamas, swans, fallow deer, donkeys, pygmy goats, pigs, alpachas and even a couple of peacocks there.

Once you have fed the animals, you could have something to eat yourself. Whether you choose to bring your own picnic, and eat in the grounds or go to the restaurant and have something made for you at the park cafe

For the children there are 2 mini playparks, one aimed at smaller children and one at older children. My grandson is now just of the age, that he can go down slides on his own, and he loves this part. We can spend an hour just at the play park itself

There is also an enchanted forest to take a walk though. Complete with information about the flora of the wood, it is a lovely stroll - look out for the unicorn and the dragon, hiding in the woods!!

How to get there.

Situated on the A290 Whitstable Road, on the edge of a village called Blean, about 4 miles from Canterbury, the Park is really easy to get to. You can either drive there, as there is plenty of free parking available, or you could choose to take the bus which stops just outside the Park. Either way, it's a fun outing for the kids and adults.

Opening Times and Prices

Normally open every day during the school holidays, the park opens at 10 am and shuts at 5.30 pm, with the last entry being at 4.30pm.

During school term, the park is open on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

At the moment (spring 2011) the cost to enter is £4.50 per person.
