Goods Shed in Canterbury

A must for any visitor to Canterbury who loves their food is The Canterbury Goods Shed.

Whether you are a foodie or just love a good pie, you have to make the trip just outside the city walls to visit this amazing place.

A daily farmers market and butcher(all food is sourced and butchered locally) that also has the most amazing restaurant using ingredients from the market itself.

The butcher sources local free range produce and Game. This is a butcher that focuses on meat that is traditinally reared, butchered and hung all within the local area. The three butchers are also there to help advise you on how to cook the meat as well.

If you are looking for great quality local game then this is the place. It depends on the season as to what you might get but its awlays worth asking the butchers

The cheesemaker hand makes all his cheese using unpasteurised cheeses to give it a unique flavour. Other cheeses they source are also from the local area. So if you are looking for a special cheese this is well worth a stop.

The Badlesmere Court stand provides you with a weath of pickles, chutneys, jam as well as a variety of home made dairy produce, sweets and cured meats.

The Patriana Charcuterie will offer you a variety of meats from France and Spain so if you are looking for something extra special its well worth a visit. I am a fan of the boar sausage

Finally I would also recmmend you pay a visit to the Goods Shed restaurant. Its located on a raised platform overlooking the market you get a really great atmosphere when dinning here.

They source most of their food from the Market or locally so you are in for a culinary treat in a great market atmosphere. Its a Mecca for foodies and its easy to see why when you eat there. Its one of my favourite places to eat out.
