Canterbury Gardens

For a more peaceful look around the city, try a walk in Canterbury Gardens. There are numerous parks and open spaces dotted around this medieval city, and are maintained by the City Council. I have always found it a pleasure to stroll around some of these and watch as the seasons pass by.

From the majesty of the Dane John, huddled up against the remnants of the city's famous walls, to the smaller Lady Wooton's Green there is a place for everyone. There is even the Westgate Gardens meanders along, in parallel with the River Stour, all in the shadow of the Westgate Tower.

Canterbury Gardens

Whether you just want to sit in the sun reading a book or go and watch a band playing, then these Gardens are the places for you. There is just something about being in an open green space in the middle of a City. I often like to bring my Grandkids into the town and let them play in the gardens; fresh air is so important for young children, but more importantly, it makes them sleep better at night!!

Coming soon. I will shortly be giving you guides to some of the individual places to visit and what to see and do there.

The Dane John Gardens. The Dane John, a peaceful and historic space complete with Roman mound, a bandstand and the city walls to walk along.
