Marks and SpencerThink of a English Department stores and Marks and Spencer is what usually comes to mind. Fortunately we have one in Canterbury located on the high street. Catering for fashion for all ages, food, furniture and the M&S staple, underwear.
If you are looking for that edible English gift then you are sure to find it at the M&S food hall. Shortbread, toffee, scones, pies, marmalade or if its is Christmas time mince pies are all to be found here. I always send a box of M&S mince pies and Christmas puddings to my friends in Australia every Christmas, and if I am visiting I always take a tin of M&S shortbread, you are guaranteed to make your friends and family smile. The food is excellent quality even the ready made meals are a treat. I would try the Gastropub range. I always grab a Moussaka or Lamb shank from there as a treat if I can't be bothered to cook. If you are looking for lunch on hoof, sandwiches, baguettes and salads (cutlery provided) are all available in the food court, along with drinks and other snaking foods. They are af a good quality and I sometimes grab a sandwich and sit on on of the benches outside and listen to the music from buskers. On the ground floor M&S has their own cafe/restaurant call M&S kitchen, serving food from their food hall. Great for lite bite if you want to sit down but don't want a restaurant meal A top tip if you are short of currency you can change your money at the customer Service desk!
