Traveling by Sea


Traveling to Canterbury by Sea

With the busiest seaport in the UK, Dover, only 20 minutes away, traveling by Sea to get to Canterbury is easy. Dover has a ferry arriving every 30 minutes from Europe.

Canterbury is situated just 20 minutes from this international port. If you are planning to drive from the continent, once you have disembarked from the ferry, you should head for the A2 road and the signs for Canterbury.

If you are a foot passenger then you will need to get to Dover train station where you can easily pick up a train to Canterbury.

The following Ferry companies operate out of Dover

Norfolk Line

They operate between:
Dover and Dunkirk, have 32 daily sailings, and the crossing takes 2 hours.

Sea France

They operate between:
Dover and Calais, have 62 daily sailings, and the crossing takes 1hr 15min.

P&O Ferries

They operate between:
Dover and Calais, have 80 Daily Sailings, and the crossing takes and hour and a half.

LD Lines

They Operate between:
Dover to Boulogne with 6 daily sailings taking an hour for the crossing
Dover to Dieppe with only 5 weekly sailings. The crossing will take 4 hours and 15 minutes for the crossing
